Job Requirements:
You will be tasked with managing the day-to-day activities and agile ceremonies of internal and outsourced engineering teams, ensuring they are following Agile best practices. You are expected to coach the teams in their paths toward Agile best practices, as well as remove impediments to their work. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Serves as a servant-leader of the team, facilitating Agile Ceremonies: Daily Scrum, Grooming, and Retrospectives.
  • Coaches team members on Agile practices and frameworks as needed.
  • Leads the scrum and development teams in self-organization.
  • Proactively assists with mitigation of issues and impediments.
  • Facilities backlog grooming and story point assignments.
  • Follows through on sprint commitments.
  • Monitors team effectiveness through performance indicators velocity, backlog health, burndown metrics, and task definition.
  • Assist teams in adopting and using Jira effectively.
  • Facilitates Root Cause Analysis discussions in order to identify proactive measures to prevent future problems.
  • Regularly meet with project managers, technical account managers, and support to maintain and refine the product backlog, ensuring they are prepared for sprints to come.
  • Collaborates with Product Owners and other stakeholders to identify and meet priorities based on ROI or contractual commitments.
  • Facilitates activities to achieve a high-performance team, recognizing strengths and addressing gaps.
  • Facilitates the resolution of conflicts.
  • Communicate actively and effectively with engineers, QA, project managers, technical account managers, support, design team and others as needed to enforce effective cross-departmental collaboration

The ideal candidate has:
Required

  • 3+ Years of experience overall in the Software development sector
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, preferable for software products or initiatives
  • Possess the ability to work with and influence a wide range of stakeholders across all roles and levels (IT, Product Development, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of agile metrics (tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.) to analyze and improve sprint planning
  • Experience in working and communicating effectively as a part of a team, balancing needs across stakeholders and technology teams
  • Experience in managing complex software development projects and teams; effectively negotiate/influence others; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing to all audiences; analyze and problem solve a variety of issues; carry out project planning activities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively between business and technical teams

Ideal

  • Knowledge of at least one of these scripting or programming languages: PowerShell, Bash, C, C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript
  • Industry experience in a technical role using Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Agile software and collaboration tools (Jira, Slack, Wiki, Workboard, etc.)
  • Exposure to cloud, infrastructure, and software technologies
  • SAFe Scrum Master or Scrum Master certification
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
